Kolkata : Italian and Fiorentina Footballer Edoardo Bove shockingly collapsed on Field during a Serie A game.
The tragic incident occurred during Florentina’s Serie A Match against Inter Milan within opening 16 minutes , where the 26 years old collapsed on the Field with the game abandoned shortly afterwards.
Bove’s teammates immediately called for medical help and both sets of players surrounded the 22-year-old while he was being treated before he was swiftly stretchered off to an ambulance near the pitch and taken to Careggi Hospital in Florence on Sunday (December 1, 2024).
“The first cardiological and neurological tests performed have ruled out acute damage to the central nervous system and the cardio-respiratory system,” said Italian club Fiorentina on Bove’s condition.
Both Bove’s parents, girlfriend, Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino and most of his teammates, as well as club directors and the city’s mayor arrived at the hospital.
Fans gathered outside the hospital and displayed a banner with the words: “Forza Edoardo, Florence is with you.”
Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso echoed that sentiment and the club said he and his family are in constant contact from the United States to support Bove and his family.
“Forza Edoardo, we’re with you,” Commisso said. “You’re a strong boy with a great character.”
‘He is currently awake’
In the latest update, Florentina announced that Bove is awake and breathing on his own. Due to swift handling of the medical team, this happened.
Fiorentina said that further tests will be conducted on Bove to know the cause of the situation. As of now, there’s no heart or brain damage and he’s recovering.
“ACF Fiorentina has announced that Edoardo Bove, following an uneventful night, was awakened and extubated this morning. He is currently awake, alert and oriented. He has spoken with his family, club management, the coach and his team-mates, who all rushed to go and see him as soon as they heard the good news. Further tests will be carried out in the coming days to establish what led to the critical situation that took place yesterday.”
“The doctors at Careggi University Hospital who are treating the player have confirmed that diagnostic tests are ongoing. Fiorentina would like to thank Careggi University Hospital and all of the doctors and staff for the wonderful humanity and professionalism they have shown.”

Bove, who arrived to the team from AS Roma on season long loan has huge impact in Florentina’s midfield. His quick recovery will be huge blessing for the side.
