Kolkata : Indian international and former Kerala Blasters defender Sandesh Jhingan has almost joined the Kolkata side ATK Mohun Bagan for the upcoming ISL season. The deal is in the final stage and the news of his signing can come anytime soon.

Jhingan has played for Kerala Blasters since the inaugural season and has came up strong enough to represent his country in the International stage. He has played 76 times for the Kochi -based side but missed the last season due to a serious injury. His two year contract was remaining but he came into mutual settlement with Kerala Blasters FC back in May and left the club for future opportunities at a successful club.

Reports claim that he hasn’t joined the ‘Kolkata Giants’ yet but in a verge of joining them anytime soon.

“Every Asian kid, not only Indians, dream to play in European leagues, especially in La Liga and EPL. (But) there are certain laws that restrict your movements. There are so many things involved. But yes, if you have the quality, you will make it. Now a lot of kids know that they can make it. A lot of players are coming in from those leagues in India. Going forward we will see a lot of Indians making it to Europe,” said by Jhingan during a live Instagram chat session hosted by All India Football Federation (AIFF).

Jhingan got his recognition after a prolific first two ISL season at the Kerala Blasters and now he is tipped as one of the best defender for India in the 21st Century. Solid as a rock in the middle of the defence, good in air, great in covering opponent forwards and even can score while set pieces.

ATK Mohun Bagan has already signed Subhasish Bose from Mumbai City FC, now addition of Jhingan with Tiri and Indian international Pritam Kotal will make their defence one of the invincible sides of the league. No doubt they have been the strongest side on pen and paper and this addition will add more spice to the team.
