ISL 2023-24 : Odisha FC hammer Chennaiyin FC to secure their 1st win

Kalinga : Odisha FC start their ISL campaign with a 2-0 win over Chennaiyin FC in Kalinga Stadium, Odisha.

Both the teams started their Matches with some good defensive tactics, at the middle stage, the Match seemed to be a dull affair with sporadic actions from both sides, despite some individual attacking brilliance from respective teams. However, this chain of goal less 1st half was broken in the last minute of 1st half when Jerry Mawihmingthanga put Odisha in lead curling the ball into the net taking advantage of a clearance mistake by Chennaiyin goal keeper.

In the 2nd half, despite desperate efforts by Chennai to equalise, the lead was increase to 2-0 by Diego Maurício , who scored the goal, taking advantage of a back pass by Chennai’s Ankit Mukherjee towards Diego, and he capitalized the situation , thereby, scoring it. Odisha FC neither concede nor score any further goals despite creating multiple chances and dull efforts by Chennai.

Odisha FC will next face Mumbai City FC on September 28 , whereas, Chennaiyin FC would be face to face with North East United the day after.
