Goa: It is that time of the year again, the season’s first Kolkata Derby is set to staged on Saturday (November 27) in Hero Indian Super League. The two age long rivals SC East Bengal and ATK Mohun Bagan will face each other at Tilak Maidan in Vasco da Gama, Goa.
One of the most sought after event in Indian football is the Kolkata Derby. Always high in emotion and tempo, this match assures a lot more than just the match on field. It is about the passion and emotion that runs thick in the fans of both the club. The current standings are ATKMB is in third place with three points from one match and East Bengal is in seventh position with one point from one match.
The task will be no easy feat for East Bengal as they are about to face the in form ATKMB. ATKMB brought their A-game for their opening match against Kerala Blasters, with their attacking options firing from the very start. Hugo Boumous and Roy Krishna pairing looked threatening in their 4-2 victory over KBFC.
East Bengal on the other hand, put forward a good fight with their relatively new squad and a new coach, against Jamshedpur FC. They gave their best but had to settle for sharing a point with Jamshedpur, who currently defeated FC Goa 3-1.
Manolo Diaz men would have to be rock solid to contain the threat of Hugo and Roy Krishna. Although Diaz expects nothing but the best performance from his men, as they face the daunting task just for their second matchday.
