Goa: FC Goa’s horrendous start to the Indian Super League (ISL) campaign ended after nudging past SC East Bengal 4-3 in goal-scoring thriller at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Goa on Tuesday. The Gaurs earned the first win of the season while the misery for the Red & Gold side continues. Alberto Noguera shined for Juan Ferrando’s side-scoring couple. Jorge Ortiz also added for the Gaurs with another one coming from an own goal while East Bengal found the net through Antonio Perosevic’s brace and Amir Dervisevic.

Goa enjoyed much possession right from the first whistle scoring the opening in the 14th through Alberto Nougera’s long-range missile. East Bengal too reacted in style as Antonio Perosevic struck a superb equalizer with a half-volley distance that ricocheted off right-sided post to find the net, giving goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh no chance.

East Bengal too reacted in style as Antonio Perosevic struck a superb equalizer with a half-volley distance that ricocheted off right-sided post to find the net, giving goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh no chance. Jorge Ortiz added spice to the sea-saw action converting from the penalty spot to take the lead again for Goa after Seriton was fouled inside the box but Amir Dervisevic in the 37th minute equalized the second time for East Bengal from a free-kick fooling Dheeraj.

Perosevic’s unfortunate own-goal just before handed the lead to the opposition for the third time after the Devendra Murgaonkar’s header deflected off the Croatian to find the net. However, the lanky forward bettered his error in the second half finding the back of the net from a one-on-one situation pouncing on an error from Glan Martins.

Goa hammered the final nail in the coffin as Nougera bagged his brace in the 79th minute slotting home a low cross from Ortiz. The fourth goal was enough to be the decisive as Ferrando’s troops held on to their slender lead to register their first win of the season.
