ISL 2021-22: Kerala Blasters breeze past Odisha FC

Goa: Strikes form Álvaro Vázquez and Prasanth Karuthadathkuni helped Kerala Blaster seal a 2-1 victory over Odisha FC in the Indian Super League(ISL) at the Tilak Maidan in Goa on Sunday. The tuskers moved to 6th spot with the victory while the Kalinga’s remain at 3rd despite a goal from, Nikhil Raj in second-half stoppage time.

Adrian Luna was brilliant throughout the game for the Tuskers involving in both the goals while his attempted free-kick in the seventh minute, forced goalkeeper Kamaljit to dive to his left and deny the Uruguayan. Odisha’s best chance leading to the break came full back after Hendry Antonay attempted an audacious long-ranger which dipped at the top right corner but Albino was on hand to parry the ball over the bar.

Sahal Abdul Samad was looking great for Kerala in the second causing problem in the opposing final third. Kerala opened the scoring courtesy off Vazquez who timed his run to perfection after getting the ball from Luna before Spaniard ran 30 yards and rounded the keeper and put the ball in the back of the net.

Vazquez could have doubled lead shortly after than but despite being set up beautifully by Sahal, his low effort was blocked by Kamaljit. Midfielder Prasanth settled the nerves late in the final he dinked a perfectly weighed ball from Luna past the keeper. Odisha did manage to get an consolation as Nikhil Raj struck past the keeper minutes before the final whistle.
