The match began with CSK winning the toss and electing to bowl first. LSG’s opening pair, Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh, came out aggressively, with Inglis starting the assault devastatingly from the very first over and putting pressure on the CSK bowlers. Nicholas Pooran got out just after the powerplay ended, dismissed by Noor Ahmad for 1 off 3 balls. Then, in the 10th over, Jamie Overton picked up two crucial wickets in the same over, first dismissing the dangerous Josh Inglis after his fantastic innings of 85 off 33 balls, and then removing Rishabh Pant for 15. Aiden Markram was run out brilliantly by a direct hit from Dewald Brevis after scoring 6 off 7 balls. LSG suffered a dramatic collapse from 91/1 after 6 overs to 130/5 in 12.1 overs.
