IPL 2024 : Mumbai Indians outclass Royal Challengers Bengaluru to record 2nd consecutive win

Mumbai : Mumbai Indians defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 7 wickets at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai in course of chasing 197 runs. Jasprit Bumrah’s 5-fer , Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav’s half centuries were pivotal points for Mumbai’s high scoring win.

Chasing 197 runs, Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma gave MI a fiery start. Ishan Kishan (69), Rohit Sharma (38) played pacy knocks to erase off pressure from MI. Surya Kumar Yadav making a comeback made 19 balls 52 , his fastest IPL half century to take the game away from RCB.The finishing cameos from Tilak Varma (16*) & skipper Hardik Pandya (21*) ensured MI’s chase in just 15.3 overs.

Winning the toss, electing to bowl, MI went to 7th sky as Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Virat Kohli for 5th time in IPL. Will Jacks too followed him soon.A 82-run partnership between Rajat Patidar (50), Faf Du Plessis (61) took RCB past 100.

After this duo’s dismissal, the RCB batting lineup collapsed from one end. However, the experienced campaigner Dinesh Karthik scored an important 53* (23) ensured RCB end up at 196-8 after 20 overs.Jasprit Bumrah was the only stand out bowler for MI, picking 5-fer conceding just 21 runs. He clinched Man of the Match award as a result.
