MS Dhoni will lead CSK in remainder of IPL 2022.

Mumbai: After a poor start to the 2022 season of Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings skipper Ravindra Jadeja has decided to hand over the captaincy duties back to MS Dhoni, the franchise announced on Saturday.

MS Dhoni, who had walked away from the job before the season started, will take over from Ravindra Jadeja as skipper for the remaining matches of the ongoing season of the IPL 2022.

Chennai Super Kings website confirmed the news as well. The 40-year-old Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow the all rounder to focus on his game.

“Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK. MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game,” the statement read.

CSK are currently at the ninth position in the points table with six losses in eight games. CSK will need to win all their remaining matches to make it to the playoffs now. CSK will next be seen against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium.
