Mumbai: Former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop revealed that Mumbai Indians (MI) captain, Rohit Sharma, was going through a tough phase and looked completely broken and MI need to do some personal changes in the side following their eighth successive loss in a row in the IPL 2022 season.

For Rohit Sharma, this edition of the Indian Premier League has been quite disappointing. While his team Mumbai Indians is yet to register a win in the tournament, Rohit’s batting performance, too, has been far from impressive. Several questions have been raised over his form and his decision, Rohit has faced massive criticism.

In the eight outings so far, the India captain has scored 153 runs, with the highest score of 41. With an average of 19.13, Rohit’s poor form has had an impact on the team’s overall performance. MI are virtually out of the playoff race and the cricket world is stunned. After all, has been the most successful IPL franchise to date, having clinched the title a record five times.

“When I spoke to Rohit Sharma after the last game, he seemed a broken man, understandably. It is a franchise with a great pedigree. I think they need some personnel changes. I think they need Tim David. I don’t know why he hasn’t featured more often,” Bishop told Star Sports.

The West Indies pacer also said Mumbai Indians need to inducted Tim David into the playing XI to strengthen the inconsist batting line-up.

“I think they need Tim David. I don’t know why he hasn’t featured more often. They need someone in that batting lineup to get them to a more significant score to hold things, and maybe power things up a little bit. Obviously, Suryakumar Yadav has been playing well,” he added.

Bishop further suggested that Mumbai must look to produce players for the future as their chances for qualification are all but over.

“Their bowling has been leaking runs at critical times in matches, so it’s disappointing for them this year. But still they got to see how they can get out of it, and how they can develop some of those players going forward,” Bishop further added.

MI currently sits at the bottom of the points table with 0 wins in 8 matches, the worst-ever start in IPL history. They will next face off against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday night.
