Bengaluru: Delhi Capitals (DC) owner Parth Jindal reckoned that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) didn’t handle Kuldeep Yadav well in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Kuldeep Yadav was roped in by Delhi Capitals on Day 1 of the IPL auction 2022 for a sum of INR 2 crore. While Yadav had gone into the mega auction with INR 1 crore set as his base price, the Delhi based franchise shower faith in him and made an investment to bring the left-arm spinner on board.

Reflecting on Kuldeep’s inclusion in the squad, team owner Jindal said that he was not handled well in KKR in the previous seasons. Jindal also stated that Yadav has a lot to prove and they are very keen to see what wonders he does in the upcoming season.

“When we looked at the value names, one of the names that stuck with us was Kuldeep Yadav. Yesterday, when Kuldeep played for India against WI, I was holding myself I hope Kuldeep doesn’t do a wonderful job, because then his price will go crazy,” said Delhi owner Parth Jindal on  ‘Auction Alert with Boria.’

Kuldeep had been part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) between 2014 and 2021, but his performance dipped since the 2018 season. He played only 9 matches in 2019 and 5 in the next edition due to his lacklustre performance. He missed the last season due to injury. The 27 year old wrist spinner would now be hoping to make the most of his opportunities in the upcoming season of the marquee tournament.

“I don’t think he has been handled well in the IPL for the last few seasons, he is a player who rides very much on confidence. In the environment we’ve created at Delhi Capitals with Ricky Ponting and Rishabh Pant, it is something that we want to give him. He has a lot to prove, and I think the fire in his belly is there and we are very keen to see what he does in the next IPL,” Jindal added.
