Jofra Archer and Jaspreet Bumrah to play for Mumbai Indians in IPL.

Bengaluru: India’s legendary pacer and Mumbai Indians Director of Cricket Operations head Zaheer Khan has said that it will be worth the wait when Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer will start bowling for the franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Archer was picked up by Mumbai Indians for Rs 8 crore on Day 2 of the IPL mega auction here in Bengaluru. The England pacer will not be available for IPL 2022 season, and he would only start playing for the franchise from the next season. While Jasprit was previously retained by MI for 12 crores.

“You are eagerly waiting for the partnership to go on the field and so am I. To see two legendary fast bowlers bowling in tandem and I’m glad that it seems possible and will be worth the wait,” said Zaheer.

MI owner Akash Ambani reckoned that they tried to bid for other fast bowlers, but all were bought by other teams. Added that the plan was very clear to get Archer. Ambani also said that even though Archer is not available for IPL 2022, he will form a formidable partnership with Jasprit Bumrah when he returns back to action next year.

“We bid for all fast bowlers before Jofra but were priced out. The plans firmed up last night and it was not that we were setting aside the budget. We discussed him pre-auction but the plan was firmed up last night. We took all those considerations in after what the fast bowlers went for yesterday. He is not available this year but when he is fit and available we believe he will make a formidable partnership with Bumrah,” said Ambani after the auction.
