IPL 2022: Chennai Super King smash Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Sunrisers Hyderabad

Mumbai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are back to winning ways in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 91 runs. A hundred-run opening partnership between Devon Conway (87) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (41) powered Chennai Super Kings to a powerful total of 208/6.

In Chennai Super Kings  Shivam Dube replaced Ravindra Jadeja in the eleven. Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were off to a fine start with the bat. Gaikwad crunched a six of the innings while Conway hit two fours. Conway whacked consecutive sixes to bring up the fifty partnership. Chennai Super Kings were 57-0 at the end of the powerplay.

Conway notched his half-century hitting two sixes and a four against Kuldeep Yadav. Chennai Super Kings were cruising at 100/0 at the halfway stage. Conway creamed three fours in a row against Kuldeep Yadav. However, Gaikwad got caught off Anrich Nortje’s bowling haulting the hundred partnership. Conway continued the attack. Shivam Dube  joined Conway and swifted to 32 off 18 deliveries. Dube hit two sixes and a four against Shardul Thakur.

Delhi Capitals claimed Conway’s wicket off Khaleel Ahmed’s bowling. Mitchell Marsh dismissed Dube to bring out Chennai Super Kings skipper, MS Dhoni. Dhoni immediately got into the act by dispatching a six followed by four. Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Ambati Rayudu. Dhoni hit another six to push Chennai Super Kings cross the 200-run mark. Robin Uthappa enrouted the innings with 208/6.

Delhi Capitals lost an early wicket of Srikar Bharat but David Warner was on the charge with two maximums. Maheesh Theekshana scalped the second wicket trapping David Warner in LBW. Starting his innings well Mitchell Marsh was joined by Skipper Rishabh Pant. Pant creamed three fours in a row and Delhi Capitals were 59-2 at the end of the powerplay.Moeen Ali scalped his first wicket to dismiss Marsh.

Moeen scalped two more wickets to dismiss Rishabh Pant and Ripal Patel. Delhi Capitals were 7 down after Mukesh Choudhary claimed two wickets.Choudhary knocked Axar Patel’s stumps while Rovman Powell was caught behind. Simarjeet Singh dismissed Kuldeep Yadav. Shardul Thakur made a useful 24 with two fours and a six. Dwayne Bravo wrapped the innings , dismissing Thakur and Khaleel Ahmed on consecutive deliveries.

Brief Scores: Chennai Super Kings 208/6 (Devon Conway 87, Ruturaj Gaikwad 41; Anrich Nortje 3-42) beat Delhi Capitals 117 all out (Mitchell Marsh 25, Shardul Thakur 24; Moeen Ali 3-13) by 91 runs.

Faf du Plessis and Wanindu Hasaranga star for Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 67 run victory

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) tasted their 7th victory in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 67 runs. Captain Faf du Plessis played a knock of (73*) that propelled RCB to 192-3 in the first innings.

Jagadeesha Suchit took Virat Kohli from the first delivery. Royal Challengers Bangalore recovered well to put up 47-1 at the end of powerplay. Rajat Patidar and Faf du Plessis bring up their 50-run partnership with a shower of boundaries and couple of sixes. Skipper du Plessis reached his half-century and the hundred partnership was up for the second wicket.

Suchith claimed his second wicket to catch Patidar at deep mid-wicket. Coming next, Glenn Maxwell added two fours and a six. The 150 was up for Royal Challengers Bangalore with du Plessis and Maxwell hitting a four each. Dinesh Karthik provided an excellent finishing helping Royal Challengers Bangalore to post 192/3.

In the first over, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost Skipper Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma. Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi counter-attacked ato put Sunrisers Hyderabad at 39-2 at the end of the powerplay. Bringing the fifty-run partnership, Markam got out. Tripathi added two fours putting Sunrisers Hyderabad at 69/3 at the halfway stage.

Nicholas Pooran smacked two fours and a six, and was caught off to Hasaranga. Tripathi reached his half-century. Royal Challengers Bangalore had their 5th wicket with Suchith. Josh Hazlewood scalped two wickets including Tripathi. Hasaranga claimed a five-wicket haul after getting the wickets of Shashank Singh and Umran Malik.
