Virat Kohli and Co. celebrate a dismissal

Ahmedabad: Royals Challengers Bangalore, after seeing a horrendous loss at the hands of Chennai Super Kings will be determined to get back in winning ways when they take on a formidable Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday (April 27).

Despite the contrasting results in their last game, both the sides have been excellent in the tournament. These two have locked horns with each other 25 times in the history of the tournament with Virat Kohli’s side having the upper hand over with 14 win while 10 were won by Delhi while one game between ended with no result. However, this time Delhi will be looking to change that.

Rishabh Pant’s side in the last game clinched a thrilling win the super-over against Sunrisers Hyderabad. First Prithvi Shaw (59) and Rishabh Pant (37) sent them to 159/4 before Kane Williamson’s (66) heroics brought SRH levelling the score. However, Axar Patel and skipper Pant did their job efficiently getting the game over the line.

RCB on the other hand will come into this game having lost their unbeaten streak in the last game. Chasing 192, Virat Kohli’s side struggled from the start ending on on 122/9 after Faf du Pless (50) and Ravindra Jadeja (62) smashed them reaching 191/4. Apart from a 15 ball 34 from Devdutt Padikkal, others failed miserably with the bat while Harshal Patel went for 37 in his last over.

For Delhi, there will be no Ravichandran Ashwin for them from after his leave from the tournament to support his family fighting Covid-19. So, there’s every possibility of seeing the duo of Amit Mishra and Axar Patel having the responsibility taking wickets in those middle overs. Anrich Nortje might feature in the line up in place of Steve Smith with Ajinkya Rahane taking the place of the Aussie at no.3. However, the bowler need to be careful against a swashbuckling batting line up of RCB.

Bangalore’s overly dependence on their superstars was exposed badly in the last game. Their middle order barring AB de Villiers failed to show any kind of form. Besides that, with Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa going home, they would probably continue with Daniel Christian. As for their batting, bringing Washington Sundar up the order has also proved to not quite fruitful. Shahbaz Ahmed might feature in that case in Tuesday’s game.
