Mumbai: Chris Morris (36 not out ) justified his heavy price tag as he hit two sixes in the last over helping Rajasthan Royals register a three-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday (April 15). Sanju Samson’s side turned their disappointment of the last into victory climbing to fifth in the table.

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai witnessed a different scenario to their usual high-scoring run-fest. An array of tight bowling was seen from both sides although it was the Royals who had the last laugh chasing down a total of 148 in the last over. David Miller (62) starred the Royals before Morris made the most of his long leavers after their side held the Delhi Capitals on a below-par score of 147.

Earlier, Delhi had a scratchy start losing openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan cheaply with Ajinkya Rahane and Marcus Stoinis following them soon after. Rishabh Pant got dismissed for 52 thanks to a brilliant fielding from Riyan Parag who’s direct hit sent the Delhi skipper home.

The seaming duo of Jaydev Unadkat (3/15) and Mustafizur Rahman (2/29) fared well doe Royals. In reply, Rajasthan too got the same taste at the start of the innings. With Ben Stokes missing, they struggled to put pressure on the opposing bowling. Their top 4 all went home for single-digit leaving a mountain to climb.

With Delhi’s bowling coming thick and strong, the task was quite hard. Miller though, who was playing in place Stokes turned up the heat. The dynamic Proteas southpaw scored a 43 ball 62 to close the gap for Rajasthan.

But his exit off Avesh Khan left Rajasthan again handed a tough task. Chris Woakes (2/22) and Avesh (3/32) were pick of the bowlers for Delhi while the returning Kagiso Rabada too attacked the batsman.

It looked like all smiles for the Capitals. With 12 needed off the last over, Morris clobbered a couple of maximums to get things over the line as Rajsthan scored 150/7 with two balls to spare.
