South Africa : India U19 Women one sidedly beat England U19 Women by 7 Wickets in the Final of the inaugural season of Women’s U19 Wc at Potchefstroom, South Africa, with the help economical of Titas Sadhu, taking 2 wickets, conceding 6 runs in 4 overs.
Chasing a small total of 69 runs, India lost their skipper Shefali Verma & tournament’s highest run scorer Shweta Sehrawat early, but a solid partnership between Soumya Tiwari & Gongadi Trisha helped India write their name in the historic feat.
Earlier with the bowling, India dominated England throughout the innings with Titas Sadhu, Archana Devi & Parshavi Chopra, bowled economical spells & took 2 wickets each, thus bundled out England on 68 runs in 17 overs. Titas Sadhu was adjourned the Man of The Match for her magical performance.
It’s a matter of coincidence that both India Men’s Senior team under M S Dhoni (2007 ICC T20 Wc) & Indian U19 Women’s Team under Shefali Verma(ICC U19 Women’s T20 WC) won the inaugural season, both hosted by South Africa.
