IPL 2021: All-round Kolkata Knight Riders take down Delhi Capitals

Sharjah: After suffering a narrow defeat in the last game, Kolkata Knight Riders bounced backed in superb fashion with a 4 wicket over Delhi Capitals at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.KKR chased down a mere 128 after a resilient bowling peformance had scattered Delhi apart after being asking them to bat.

Eoin Morgan’s decision to bowl first was right on the money as their bowlers were disciplined throughout the innings against the formidable batting line up restricting them to 127/9 .Apart from Steve Smith(39),the top scorer along skipper Rishabh Pant(39) and Shikhar Dhawan(24), none of the batters got into double digit scores.

Star Spinner Sunil Narine(2/18) lead the charge while Venkatesh Iyer(2/29) added a pinch of surprise rolling his arms over in a superb spell. Seamer Lockie Ferguson(2/10) also chipped in with a couple of wickets as Delhi failed to build up any sort resilience.

In reply, Kolkata despite loosing both their in-form batters, Rahul Tripathi and Venkatesh Iyer early in the chase never went out of the track. Subhman Gill(30) and Nitish Rana(36) laid down the base adding crucial runs.

Delhi’s bowlers did manage to strech the game to the wire through Avesh Khan(3/13) and Anrich Northe(1/15) but their didnt have enough runs on the board to give themselves hoes. Narine after a superb bowling spell hammered a breezy 10 ball 21 to seal the deal for Kolkata who grabbed their fifth win.
