Ahmedabad : India defeated New Zealand by 59 runs at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, to go 1-0 up in 3 Match ODI Series.

India went into the match with main skipper Harmanpreet Kaur being ruled out due to a niggle. Hence, Smriti Mandhana took up the captaincy charges.

Batting 1st, Shafali Verma (33) gave India a fiery start despite Smriti’s early departures.

However, after her dismissal, India lost cluster of wickets, and were in position 91-4 (15.1).

Jemimah Rodrigues (35) & Tejal Hasabnis (42) notched up a 61 runs partnership, followed by Deepti Sharma (41) playing another vital knock.

However, India lost wickets from other end constantly and were bundled out for 227 runs.

Amerlia (4/42) and Jess Kerr (3/49) starred in bundling out the Batters.

Defending 228 runs, India took wickets at regular intervals. Despite firm stands by Brookie Halliday (39) & Maddy Green (31), India continued picking regular wickets.

Radha Yadav (3/35), Saima Thakor (2/26) played vital roles in troubling the Kiwis as they got bundled out for 168 runs.

Deepti Sharma was adjourned the Player of The Match for her great performance.

India will next face New Zealand on October 27 at same venue.
