ICC WTC 2025 Final, AUS vs SA, Day 2: Proteas give fitting reply to Pat Cummins’ 6-fer

Lords : The day 2 of ICC WTC 2025 saw Australia dominating in first half at Lord’s but South African dominating at the end of the day.

Day 2 started with Temba Bavuma and David Bedingham on crease and South Africa struggling at 43/4, at the end of Day 1.

Both Bavuma (36) & Bedingham (45) notched 64 runs partnership to ease off the pressure. However, both eventually fell and Proteas’ score struck to 126-5.

The next phase saw a giant collapse in their Batting as Aussie skipper ripped apart their lower middle order, eventually bundling them for 138, putting Australia in an advantage of 74 runs lead.

South Africa began to dominate Aussies after opening 44 runs partnership between Marnus Labuschagne (22) & Usman Khawaja (6). From 44-0, Aussies collapsed to 73-7, owing to 3-fers from Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada.

Aussies fought back with 61 runs partnership between Alex Carey (43) & Mitchell Starc (16*). Carey fell by the end of the day and Aussies are currently on 144-8, leading by 218 runs with Starc and Nathan Lyon (1*) at crease.
