St Vincent : Afghanistan defeated Australia by 21 runs at Arnos Vale Ground, St Vincent, for 1st time in International Cricket, in super 8 encounter.
Afghanistan defending 149 runs, brought Australia under pressure right from start taking wickets.
Glenn Maxwell (59) kept scoring runs single handedly from one end but without support.
Gulbadin Naib (4/20), Naveen Ul Haq were star bowlers , helping Afghanistan to demolish Australia by 21 runs.
In 1st innings, Afghanistan went off to a flying start with help of Rahmanullah Gurbaz (60) & Ibrahim Zadran (51), forming a 118 runs partnership.
However, Afghanistan were only restricted to 148-6 (20) after the departure of their openers. No one stood for long after that.
Gulbadin Naib was adjourned the Man of The Match for his 4-fer.
With this the pathway for Australia to qualify in super 8 doesn’t look smooth now, their game against India on 24 June will become do Or die for them.
