New Delhi: From going places to facing poor criticism from fans on social media, opener Prithvi Shaw has seen it all in his small career. The left-hander has endured a horrible time with the bat in the recently concluded tour of Australia.

The Mumbai batsman failed in the Adelaide Test and he was dropped from the team after scoring 0 and 4. Ultimately, he saw himself getting dropped from the England Tests as well.

The criticism of Shaw has been around ever since his poor show for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020. To worsen things for Shaw, Shubman Gill’s stepped up and grabbed the opportunity with both hands with his impressive performances.

Gill, who made his Test debut showcased a fearless batting against Australia and played a crucial role in India’s historic series win Down Under. West Indies legend Ian Bishop has suggested that Shaw needs to do a lot more than just scoring a lot of runs in the domestic circuit if he has to make it to the Indian team again.

The one thing he suggested was to find someone who will fine-tune his deficiency which has been identified during the Test series against Australia. He also told that there are qualified batting technicians to work on his technique which might instill some confidence in him.

“I am not the batting technician or guru who can tell Shaw what to do and how to fix his deficiency. There are those much more qualified to do that. It is not simply about going back to domestic cricket and scoring tons of runs. Shaw scores high-volume runs domestically anyway,” Bishop was quoted as saying to Sportstar.

“It must be that someone can help him to adjust or fine-tune the deficiency which has been identified, allow him to get comfortable with it, and then for him to get acclimated to it by using the modification to continue scoring domestically and regain confidence and form,” he further added.
