Kolkata: Young India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who recieved high praise after his dream debut against West Indies in the first T20I for his superb bowling that helped the hosts win the first T20I against West Indies, said winning the Man of the Match award in his debut match was a ‘dream come’ true for him.

“The nerves are settled now. I feel very good with such a performance, as it’s everyone’s dream to play for India. I never thought I would get the Man-of-the-Match award in my very first game for India, so it’s really a dream come true,” Bishnoi said at the post-match presentation.

“Feeling better now. It’s a dream to play for India and it felt good. I was nervous at the start but wanted to contribute for the team as we know West Indies is one of the strongest teams in T20 cricket. It’s slightly a challenge to grip the ball when there’s dew. I never thought about this (winning the MoM) but it’s a dream come true moment for me,” the 21-year-old added.

Talking about his strengths, Bishnoi said: “My strength is the length that I try to hit. I was just focusing on that.”

The youngster further revealed how former India captain and current head coach Rahul Dravid welcomed him, which made him feel good when he was nervous upon entering the Indian dressing room for the first, he added.

“Everyone has a dream of playing for India. I was excited and nervous when I came to the practice as there are so many seniors but I felt really good when Rahul (Dravid) sir welcomed me. I enjoyed myself with my seniors during the practice sessions. I have to learn a lot and I will strive to do my best for the team,” Bishnoi added.

With this win, India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, and the second T20I will now be played on Friday at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata and Bishnoi would be hoping to continue his good form on the field.
