Goa: FC Goa’s newly-signed Spanish forward Igor Angulo is quite excited to play in the upcoming ISL. He has scored more than 100 goals in the Polish League in the last four seasons and stressed he has come to India to play in the AFC Champions League and win the Indian Super League (ISL) trophy for FC Goa.

Even after a string of good performances in the last six years, FC Goa hasn’t won the ISL title. Asked how he plans to change the fortunes of the club, Igor stated, “We have to play match by match and need to qualify for the semifinals. Goa has been a strong outfit as they have always been to the play-offs, except one season. Yes we as a team we are looking forward to it. I have come here to play in the AFC Champions League and make FC Goa ISL Champions,” the 36-year-old said.

When asked about his former Spain U-21 teammate and former FC Goa star Ferran Corominas. who had been inspirational for the Gaurs in the last few seasons, Igor stated, ” Corominas is a legend for FC Goa. But now he is past and we as a team need look at the present and plan the future ahead.”

The Spaniard joined Athletic Bilbao in 2003 but played only five games for the club.  He went on to make a name for himself in the Polish Ekstraklasa, surpassing the 50-goal mark for Górnik Zabrze. He also played professionally in France, Cyprus and Greece.
