Hyderabad: Hyderabad FC announced the signing of 21-year-attacker Aniket Jadhav on a three-year deal from Jamshedpur FC on Wednesday ahead of the Indian Super League season.

“I can’t wait to play for Hyderabad FC and I am looking forward to working with the exciting squad and coaching staff at the club,” Aniket said after he penned down the agreement.

The Kolhapur-born Aniket began his footballing career with Pune FC academy, before being drafted into the national youth camp. Having impressed during his time in the camp, Aniket went ahead to play the AFC U-16 Championship and U-17 FIFA World Cup held in 2017 at home.

Following his show at the U-17 World Cup, he played for AIFF’s developmental side Indian Arrows in the I-League netting twice in 18 appearances before making his ISL debut with Jamshedpur FC. He has made 27 appearances for them in two seasons even scoring twice for them.

“Given that many of the good young players in the ISL are playing for HFC, there will be a healthy competition amongst us to push each other in becoming the best,” he added. Head coach Manolo Marquez showed immense faith in the youngster and admitted that the versatility possessed by the Blackburn Rovers Academy-trained Aniket will be a great value to the club.

“Young players, especially attackers, need to play regularly. But it is not easy for them to maintain a high level throughout the season. This is where competition is important in a squad and Aniket will fit right in,” said the Spaniard.

“He is fast and can play in any attacking position. Wingers are important for our style and I’m sure that Aniket will be a good addition to our squad,” he added. Aniket is the fifth addition to the club ahead of their season after they roped in the services of Bartholomew Ogbeche, Edu Garcia, Abdul Rabeeh and Aaren D’silva.
