Mykonos: Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was arrested on Thursday after getting involved in an altercation while on holiday in Mykonos, Greece. As per the club, the England international is fully cooperating with the authorities in Greece. Maguire got involved in a fight while he was with his partner and his friends. This led to the arrest.

Manchester United released their statement, in that they said, “The club is aware of an alleged incident involving Harry Maguire in Mykonos last night. Contact has been made with Harry, and he is fully co-operating with the Greek authorities. At this time we will be making no further comment.”

United Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer given a two weeks off to the team after their Europa League exit to Sevilla in the Semi Finals. Unlike other players Maguire was in Greece with his family and friends to spend the week off. Players were restricted to travel anywhere during the Summer break but as Greece was listed as “Safe to travel”, Maguire don’t need to self isolate himself on his return to England.

The £80 million defender was bought from Leicester City last season and was named as the club captain on Ashely Young’s departure to Inter Milan in January. He had a good first season as the United side impressed in the later half of the season by finishing third in the Premier League but unfortunately missing out on the semi finals of both F.A Cup and Europa League.

Just one month left to start the new season and Maguire’s incident might have a negative impact in the newly formed United side who were struggling to win a major trophy since 2013.
