Bambolim: Odisha recorded only their second win of the Indian Super League (ISL) season on Saturday with a stunning 6-5 win over East Bengal — a new record for most goals scored in a match — at the GMC Stadium.

Doubles from two Indian youngsters Paul Ramfangzauva (49th minute, 66th) and Jerry Mawihmingthanga (51st, 67th) enabled Odisha to end the season on a high, with S Lalhrezuala (33rd) and Diego Mauricio (69th) chipping in.

Goals from Anthony Pilkington (24th), Aaron Joshua Holloway (60th, 90th), Jeje Lalpekhlua (74th) and an own goal from Odisha goalkeeper Ravi Kumar (37th) made up East Bengal’s tally.

The match started with an East Bengal goal scored by Pilkington in the 24th minute of the match. Sailung scored the equaliser for Odisha in the 33rd minute. Kumar scored an own goal after Manuel Onwur’s clearance gave East Bengal the lead in the 37th minute.

In the second half, Odisha came up with a different attitude and finished all the hopes of East Bengal with a bagful of goals. Ramfangzauva made it 2-2 for Odisha in the 49th minute before Jerry gave Odisha the lead in the 51st minute.

Holloway scored the equaliser for East Bengal in the 59th minute and everyone thought it would be a match to savour as it headed towards a stalemate. But with Ramfangzauva, Jerry and Mauricio all netting one each settled the matter in favour of Odisha.

Although, Jeje and Holloway reduced the deficit for East Bengal it wasn’t enough.
