FC Barcelona’s Ansu Fati finishes second in the 2020 Golden Boy Award

Barcelona : FC Barcelona forward Ansu Fati finished second in the 2020 Golden Boy Award  just behind Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. 

The 18 year old, who came through the academy of FC Barcelona had a breakthrough season with the Catalans. He broke all sorts of record and also registered himself as an important player for his team.

FC Bayern Munchen’s Alphonso Davies occupied the third spot and was followed by Jadon Sancho and Eduardo Camavinga in the fourth and fifth position respectively. This is an award arranged by Italian newspaper Tuttosport, given to the best player aged 21 or under.

This was Fati’s second nomination in two years, last he finished 6th and this year he jumped to the second spot acquiring 239 points. The only player other than Fati to win it from Barcelona was Lionel Messi.

Erling Haaland won the top spot with 302 points. Another Barcelona player to feature in the Top 20 was Sergino Dest in the 14th spot. The young talent is  the youngest goal scorer for the Catalan side as he scored against Osasuna, in a match which ended in a 2-2 draw.
