ISL 2021-22: SC East Bengal, Jamshedpur FC share points

East Bengal and Jamshedpur FC played out a 1-1 draw for their first match of the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Tilak Maidan in Vasco at Goa, on Sunday(November 21).

Franjo Prce scored the opener for East Bengal on 18minutes and Peter Hartley bagged the equalizer at the stroke of half-time. Both the goals came from free-kicks. As the first match ended in a level.

For the opening goal, the acrobatic volley from the Croatian defender Prce took a deflection, as the ball finally found the back of the net. The Red and Gold Brigade had an array of chances although they did not find the net any further.

Antonio Perosevic created a lot of chances for East Bengal. The Jamshedpur defenders looked nervous around him as he brought a threat very often in their final third. On 34 minutes Tomislav Mrcela looked to double the lead as he powered the ball in the back of the net but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Jamshedpur FC scored the equalizer at the cusp of half-time as Peter Hartley nodded home Nerijus Valskis’ freekick to equalize. Both sides got their fair share of chances in the second half but neither of them managed to score as both sides walked away with a point each from the fixture.

Next up for East Bengal, is the much-awaited derby against ATK Mohun Bagan, who had been in menacing form for their opening match against Kerala Blasters FC.
