Estonian cricket association donates INR 1 lakh for Covid relief fund in India

Kolkata: India is in the midst of a deadly second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. India added another record of 379,257 new cases on Thursday, according to the health ministry  breaking the record set a day earlier. Donations from all quarters have been pouring in to fight against the pandemic. Talking about the same the Estonian Cricket Association on Thursday announced that they are making a contribution of INR 1 lakh to help people in India impacted by the surge of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier, Australian cricketers Pat Cummins and Brett Lee have made generous contributions to help India battle the pandemic. Taking inspiration from them Estonian cricket association came forward to fight the pandemic. Announcing the news on their official social media handle they shared a statement. “Inspired from @BrettLee_58 and @patcummins30, the Estonian Cricket Association is proud to be able to make a contribution where it is needed most.” the tweet read.

“Following the lead of the Australian cricket stars. The ECA will be donating to the relief efforts of the Covid situation currently gripping India. After seeing the generosity of Brett Lee and Pat Cummins, it was a timely reminder to all of us cricket fanatics who are preparing to head into our relevant cricket seasons, we are all in this Covid situation together.” the statement read.

“As one big cricket loving family. we all need to work together to help each other out when we have the opportunity to do so by any means possible. With that being said, the Estonian Cricket Association is following the lead of both Brett Lee and Pat Cummins and has completed the transaction of INR 1 lakh in Bitcoin (0.027 BTC) to www.cryptorelief in to help with the further purchasing of oxygen supplies. We all hope the situation in India improves as soon as possible. Stay home stay safe. Wear a mask and wash hands. We can get through this!” their statement further read.

Many may not know is that a small country in Northern Europe called Estonia located in the remote corners of Northern Europe, the organization also plays cricket. They have been an associate member in the ICC since 2008, Estonia was granted a full T20I status by ICC in 2018. The ECA is also a member of the European Cricket Council.
