Erling Haaland powers Borussia Dortmund; Bayern Munich crush RB Leipzig

Leverkusen: Erling Haaland struck a brace powering Borussia Dortmund to seal a thrilling 4-3 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in Bundesliga at the BayArena on Saturday.The hosts broke the dealock through Florian Wirtz in the 9th minute of the game before setting up his teammate Patrick Schick shortly before the break although Haaland did got one back before it heading home from close range.The Norwegian then set up Julian Brandt to put the visitors on level terms early in the second half. The lead though lasted for short span of time as Leverkusen’s French winger Moussa Diaby slotted it into the corner to make it 3-2 up.

Raphael Guerreiro’s swerving free-kick gave Dortmund a leveler before it was Halaand to sealed the deal converting his spot kick after a challenge on Marco Reus. Dortmund have placed themselves third after the game while Halaand have now found the net scored eight times in his last five games for club and country.

Elsewhere, defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich stamped their authority with 4-1 victory RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig. Manager Julian Nagelsmann gave  Dayot Upamecano a start while also bringing on former Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer for his Bayern debut later in the game. Star striker Robert Lewandowski gave an early lead to the Bavarians from the spot after VAR confirmed a handball by Leipzig’s Kevin Kampl before Alphonso Davies set up Jamal Musiala for the second.

Things went down for the hosts as the game progressed. Leroy Sane put his name on the scoresheet in the 54th minute. Leipzig although reduced the deficit by one thanks Konrad Laimer who unleashed a thunderbolt from long range. However, it was Bayern who were all over the hosts as Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting put the icing on the cake in the stoppage to take his side to second two points off the league leader VFL Wolfsburg.
