Adding to Chelsea’s problems, the wing-back Reece James was off the field in the first half with an injury, and also fellow defender Andreas Christensen needed treatment and was then replaced by Chalobah during the break.

As for City, Phil Foden scored the lone goal in the 16th minute from a Kevin De Bruyne pass and it was somehow enough to acquire all three points against Brighton. This was also the 10th successive league win for Pep Guardiola’s men.

With Liverpool losing to Leicester City and Chelsea being held by Brighton & Hove Albion, City looks in complete control of the title race as the year is about to end.
