The game started in a way of David vs Goliath. United looked sharp in their movement with Fernandes leading them in the attack. But they failed to capitalize any chances which they have created. Anthony Martial’s dry spell in front of the goal continues as he missed quite a few easy opportunities. Whereas in the first half Marcus Rashford looked sharp as was linking pretty well with Fernandes. A controversial VAR decision went against West Brom and a penalty was denied. In the second half United looked better. As Juan Mata who was totally invisible in the first half came into the game. He was playing his natural passing game and earned a penalty for his side on 56th minute mark. A controversy happened when West Brom’s keeper Sam Johnstone saved the penalty of Bruno Fernandes. As the line official pointed that he went off the line while saving the penalty. A retake was allowed and Fernandes slotted the ball at the top corner of the net. After that United showed their dominance with positive changes and wing play. But the forwards were failing badly to score. Thus the game ended 1-0 for United and marked their first home victory of the season in this year’s Barclays English Premier League.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer won’t be happy with the performance of his forwards. The goals have drained up for United this season. It seems like Martial lost his scoring boots. Rashford has never played so much as a winger till now so it’s been difficult for him to adjust at this new position. Edison Cavani should have scored thrice, but lack of confidence and match time stopped doing that too. It’s a concerning situation for United. They need to think about it. Whereas the defence looked much improved on Saturday’s match, captain Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelöf looked better than before. Their chemistry is getting better match by match. Alex Telles played full 90 mins for the first time after joining and seemed like a good long term signing for the Red Devils. David De Gea made a crucial save or else the match would have ended in a draw. It’s been a happy Saturday in the red side of Manchester and for Ole it’s a relief as his team has managed to win a Premier League match at the Old Trafford after 4th July. They just need to focus on goal-scoring or else it will a difficult situation to cope up in the later half of the season.
