Manchester: Edinson Cavani is set to join Manchester United according to reports. The 33-year-old will join the Reds as a free agent on a two-year deal. He will reportedly fly to the UK on Sunday (4 October). An official announcement is expected within 24 hours of the medicals.

The Uruguayan striker left PSG earlier this year after scoring a record 200 goals since his move to the club from Napoli in 2013.  Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been looking to strengthen his attack and Cavani would fulfill that requirement.

Cavani was earlier linked to a move to Atletico Madrid, which didn’t seem to go through as his fellow countrymate Luis Suarez joined them a few days back from Barcelona. The summer transfer window closes on Monday (October 5). The deal is expected to be signed before that and it also anticipated that he is not the only player to join United before Monday.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s hopes of signing Porto’s Alex Telles appear to be fading after their £15.4m offer for the left-back was rejected by the Portuguese champions. Also, the chances of Jadon Sancho coming to Old Trafford is unlikely too.

Cavani left PSG after seven years, following an argument with Neymar, and he feels he can offer more to European football, United also feels that his addition would bring about the experience and another attacking option to their team.
