Lisbon: After an 8-2 battering in the hands of Bayern Munich, Barcelona manager Quique Setien is to be sacked just seven months into the top job, according to reports.

The 61-year-old former Real Betis manager was a replacement for Ernesto Valverde in January. He was appointed after Barcelona’s Spanish Super Cup exit to Atletico Madrid. Setièn was appointed in a tough time as the Spanish giants were five feet under the water.

It wasn’t easy for an inexperienced manager to manage a team like Barcelona and the results are telling everything. They lost the La Liga title to Real Madrid after being two points clear before the COVID-19 lockdown. His stint at the Camp Nou is over to be sure. The last Phillipe Coutinho goal was just the farewell gift for the manager.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino is said to be the possible replacement as the former Tottenham Hotspur boss has got good relations with the Barca board and even with chief Josep Bartomeu. Former Barcelona player Xavi is also linked since January but he isn’t ready to take up the job as per reports. Many names are around the corner as the team needs a perfect boost to be Barcelona which they were before
