Kolkata: Bengaluru FC clinched a narrow 3-2 victory over Army Green in the quarterfinals of the 130th edition of the Durand Cup at Vivekananda Yuvabharati Krirangan on September 25 to reach the top four of the tournament along with compatriot FC Goa, FC Bengaluru United and Mohammedan Sporting Club.

The regimental side had a more efficient start to the tie, and it took them only nine minutes to find the net courtesy Lallawmkima but the advantage did not last for long as Wungngayam Muirang leveled for the Indian Super League side.

Group stage hero Leon Augustine extended it for Naushad Moosa’s side in about two minutes from the start of the second half, making it hard for the regimental side. The third one came from Namgyal Bhutia in about the 75 minute. Although the Army pulled one back in the dying minutes of the game when Vibin TB netted home an awarded spot-kick, it was nothing but a consolation.

Bengaluru FC would be now facing ISL compatriots FC Goa in a highly contested tie on September 29 at Vivekananda Yuvabharati Krirangan.
