Dubai: Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra has been ruled out of the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL), owing to a tendon injury he suffered on Saturday (October 3) night in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sharjah.

“Yes, Mishy will not be playing because of the injury and it is confirmed. It will be a big loss to Delhi Capitals,” a source was quoted as saying to Sportstar.

Mishra was a vital player of Delhi Capitals squad, he had played three matches in this season. The 37-year-old is one of the most successful spinners in the league, having taken 160 wickets from 150 matches, at an average of 24.19. He is the second-highest wicket-taker of all time after Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga (170).

“Unfortunate to lose Mishra in the middle when he was spinning the ball really well. We were confident we had two good overs left, but anything could happen, it is a funny game is T20s and especially here in Sharjah,” Shreyas Iyer had said.

“The reports have come in and it is bad news. He will be unavailable for the rest of the season and we will need to look at a replacement. But the worst part is that he was looking in a great rhythm and was bowling really well. His experience was something that was not just helping him in the middle on these UAE wickets, but also the young spinners in the team,” the official said.
