FC Barcelona outplay Real Madrid in the first ever Women’s El-Classico

Madrid: The first ever women’s El-Classico game was played as FC Barcelona women thrashed Real Madrid’s women team by 4-0 on Sunday (October 4).

Goals came from Patri Guijarro, Lieke Martens and Alexia Putellas, as well as an own-goal by Madrid goalkeeper Maria Rodriguez in the match that was being played at ground of Real Madrid training complex.

Just 19th into game, Guijarro’s shot got a deflection before finding it into the back net for 1-0. Shortly after than Madrid gave an own though their Goalkeeper Rodriguez. Leike Martens, one of best women players in world found the net in 66th before Putellas slammed the final nail in the coffin for a 4-0 hammering.

Meanwhile Luis Rubiales, the president of the Spanish football federation, and Spain women’s coach Jorge Vilda were both present to witness this historical game.

Women’s football in Spain were given a new way for the development for sometime now and this game just cemented that.
