London: It’s a matter of concern for Frank Lampard and his men as COVID-19 has now entered their dressing room. The pre-season of Chelsea has begun as other players were returning from vacation, but these recent developments have made it far from a lost cause for Lampard’s side.

According to reports, four players have been tested positive with Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Christan Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori, who were on vacation in Greece have self-isolated upon return. Even Jorginho, Emerson, Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi are also in same. However, it is not clear which four have tested COVID-19 positive.

The owner of SantAnna Beach Club (where the Chelsea players been to a vacation in Greece) Dimitris Christoforidis stated, “I went over to say hello and made sure they were being properly looked after. They were going out a lot to bars, clubs and restaurants where there are other people and places are not properly ventilated.

“I have no concerns about my club. It’s open-air on the beach, and we have no enclosed inside spaces. There are also 55 bathrooms, many only for use by our exclusive guests. I’m not worried at all that they may have caught coronavirus here.”

The Chelsea are heading to the next season with a strong frontline. As German forward Timo Werner and Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech have already started their fair share of training. Left-back Ben Chilwell and loanee Malang Sarr would join by next week.
