Chennaiyin FC start ISL 2020-21 campaign with 2-1 win against Jamshedpur FC

Goa : Chennaiyin FC started their ISL campaign on winning ways against Jamshedpur FC at Tilak Maidan, Goa. The goals scored by Anirudh Thapa and Esmael Goncalves in the first half sealed the deal for the side. Later Nerijus Valskis scored one to cut shot the two-goal lead of Chennai but the match ended two goals to one for Chennaiyin FC.

The match started with a goal as Anirudh Thapa opened the scoring for Chennaiyin on the first minute of the match. Later on, 26th minute Goncalves scored a penalty goal to increase the lead for Chennaiyin. On the 37th minute of the match former Chennaiyin FC forward and now a Jamshedpur FC talisman Valskis scored a goal to cut shot the two goal lead for Chennaiyin. In the second half, the lead stayed intact for the Chennai-based side as Jamshedpur FC failed to equalize and it started in winning ways for the two times champions.

Jamshedpur FC had much fire power within them but failed to equalize after the setback in the first half. Owen Coyle had a good strategy against his former club but his new side failed to capitalise at the right moment. It’s just the first match of the season so we can hope that Jamshedpur FC can jump back on winning ways with so much firepower with them.

Chennaiyin FC wanted to start their season with a victory after they lost the final to ATK last season and they got one. Csaba Laszlo’s side made it very clear that they will be a strong contender in this years ISL. Anirudh Thapa has been impressive to say the least with a match-winning performance by the midfielder.
