Chennaiyin FC sign Tajik forward Fatkhulo Fatkhulloev ahead of ISL

Chennai: Indian Super League (ISL) side Chennaiyin FC have signed Tajikistan forward Fatkhulo Fatkhulloev ahead of the upcoming ISL 2020/21 season on a free transfer. The club unveiled the signing on social media on Thursday(October 15).

 

ā€œI have heard a lot about Chennaiyin, seen many matches from previous seasons. CFC is one of the biggest clubs in India with fantastic fans. So when the opportunity arose to make the move, I didnā€™t think twice. I am really excited about meeting my new teammates, and hopefully delivering a good brand of football with them, which helps us compete for the ISL title,ā€ added Fatkhulloev on the move.

The 30 years old started his career Tajik league side Dynamo Dushanbe before moving to FC Istiklol where he spent most of his career winning six Tajik top flight championships as well as reaching the AFC Cup final twice.

A full International for the Tajikistan national side since 2007 appearing 68 times. He was also part of the Tajik squad that finished the third in the AFC U-17 championship back in 2006 followed by 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Speaking on the signing Csaba LĆ”szlĆ³, Chennaiyin FC head coach explained, ā€œIn Fatkhulo (Fatkhulloev), we are signing an experienced professional who has proven his mettle for club and country. He is yet another player who fits our mold of versatility, capable of performing on both wings, and even down the middle. He has won all the major honours back home in Tajikistan, so an added advantage is the winning mentality he will bring to the table,ā€
