IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings defeats Royal Challengers Bangalore

Sharjah: Chennai Super Kings put on a clinical Performance as they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets in the Indian Premier League(IPL) at the Sharjah cricket stadium on Friday.MS Dhoni’had a tricky outing chasing down a target 157 with 11 balls to spare climbing to the top of the tree with 7 wins.

Earlier, Bangalore powered their way to 111 in 13 overs thanks to some serious hitting by Virat Kohli(53) and Devdutt Padikkal(70). However, suprisingly after the RCB skipper fell to Dwayne Bravo, runs dried up drastically due to the tight bowling by CSK bowlers. Bravo lead the charge with his 3/24 while Shardul Thakur(2/29) gave him ample support.

Both AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell again departed cheaply which pretty much dented the intent of their side for putting a big a score. CSK kept the pressure at the death too as Banglore only managed to score 156/6.

Chennai though had the same sort of start, their adversary got riding on the opening stand of 71 by Ruturaj Gaikwad(38) and Faf du Plessis(31). Spinners gave RCB a ray of hope as Maxwell and Yuzvendra Chahal sent the openers home in quick sessions. The latter with his 1/26 was right on the money while seamer Harshal Patel(2/25) too had a good outing being the pick of the bowlers.

However, CSK never seem off the track despite the pace slowing down midway through innings. Handy contributions in middle order by and Ambati Rayudu(32)and Moeen Ali pretty sealed the game even though it went almost to the wire. Skipper Dhoni and Suresh Raina made sure their team have last laugh with their second consecutive win on the trot since the resumption of the IPL.
