West Bromwich: A last-minute equaliser from Tammy Abraham (90+3), helped Chelsea squeeze a dramatic comeback to eke out a point against West Brom in the English Premier League on Saturday (September 26).

Frank Lampard’s men yet again failed to put up a good defensive show as Chelsea went 0-3 down even before half time. The defence looked all over the place and appalling. The opening goal came when Callum Robinson, completed a clinical finish on four minutes.

Thiago Silva hesitated momentarily and slipped over giving the advantage to Robinson who directed the ball to the right of Willy Caballero on 25 minutes to give the hosts a 2-0 lead. West Brom were 3-0 two minutes later when Kyle Bartley scored pinpoint shambolic defences and the potholes in Lampard’s tactics.

However, Chelsea came back strongly in the second half as they scored thrice after the break. Mason Mount was the first to score when he scored through a shot from 25 yards and on 55 minutes. Calum Hudson-Odoi reduced the deficit in the 70th minute coming off the bench.

Lampard brought in Oliver Giroud, during the closing minutes and the injury-time goal from Tammy, helped them equalise, although there was a call for handball by Kai Havertz during the buildup.

Meanwhile, West Brom coach Slaven Bilic was disappointed as they couldn’t hold on to a three-goal lead whereas Lampard must have been furious, addressing the performance of his team in spite of spending a huge amount during the transfer, yet not being able to improve the defensive lackluster.
