Goa: Hyderabad FC totally outclassed Chennaiyin FC in their first match of the year, as they won 4-1 in the GMC Stadium in Bambolim on Monday. Halicharan Narzary scored twice while Joao Victor and Joel Chianese scored one each for Hyderabad. Anirudh Thapa was the lone scorer for Chennaiyin.

The match was important for both the side to win and kick start the new year on a good note and Manolo Marquez’s side came up trumps with their fearless football and made the match look like a cakewalk for them.

The first half was interesting as both the side tried to score but failed. Hyderabad came closer but missed too many chances. In the 50th minute, Chianese broke the deadlock for Hyderabad and the goal feast continued.

Three minutes later Halicharan scored his first of the match. Thapa reduced the margin for Chennaiyin in the 67th minute before Victor hit back in the 74th minute with a beautiful curler in the top corner.

Halicharan put the final nail in the coffin with a 79th-minute goal from a quickfire counter-attack. Certainly, it’s been a very good result for Hyderabad after their unfortunate loss against FC Goa and now they are back roaring into the league. Chennai on the other hand needs to re-group themselves or else it would be difficult for the two-time Champions to make it to the top four this season.
