Kolkata : Indian team has banned opened practice session in Adelaide following poor behaviour of crowd, ahead of 2nd Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

During a recently concluded net session of India, more than 5000 fans flocked to see it.

Their constant chatter or commentary , mocking, laughing at in close proximity after Indian Batters missing Balls, recurring requests of photographs, selfies, etc made it troublesome for India to practice and thus they were left with no options but to ban crowd presence during next net sessions. Now, only media personnel will be allowed and not common public, in the practice sessions. These are done to avoid distraction, noise and concentrate on practice.

“A source close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India indicated that players were also subjected to requests for selfies while they were batting, constant commentary of their actions in close proximity and some were mocked or laughed at after missing the ball or getting out,” a report by The Age read.

“India have expressed a preference for their remaining training sessions not to be open to the public to minimise potential noise or distractions,” a CA spokesperson told The Age.

India also had bitter experience during 2011-2012 tour of Australia at Melbourne when Rohit Sharma and Praveen Kumar engaged in heated argument with a fan who abused Rohit.

India will face Australia in 2nd Test (D/N) from December 6, 2024, and are leading 1-0.
