BCCI president Sourav Ganguly discharged from Woodlands Hospital: assure fans of his well being

Kolkata: Former India skipper and the current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly was discharged from Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata on Thursday (January 7).  Ganguly was rushed to the hospital on Saturday(January 2) after complaining of chest pain. Later tests revealed that he had suffered a mild heart attack, said that he was absolutely fine.

“I am absolutely fine. Hopefully, I will be able to fly soon,”  Ganguly told mediapersons while coming out of the hospital. He thanked the doctors and health care staff at the hospital for taking care of him. “We come to hospitals to get our life back,” he said.

The 48 year-old was hospitalized at 1 pm on Saturday last week with “chest discomfort, heaviness of head, vomiting and a spell of dizziness”, while performing physical exercise in home at around 11 am. Following this, doctors had conducted angioplasty on him. After his admission to the hospital on Saturday last week, a coronary angiography was performed on the same day. A team of doctors,  including experts like Dr. Devi Shetty visited and took a stock of the former cricketer’s health. Ganguly has been identified with triple vessel disease and the medical experts decided that the next course of procedures will be done after about two to three weeks.

On Tuesday, the hospital released a statement saying, “Report of routine blood tests are satisfactory, Echocardiography shows preserved left ventricular function with an ejection fraction of 56 percent.” Dr. Rupali Basu, MD, and CEO of Woodlands Hospital,  said the former captain will be monitored at home on a daily basis after being discharged.
