London: Knowing the goal-scoring machine, Cristiano Ronaldo is , Gary Linekar predicts Ronaldo to net 25 goals this season while Alan Shearer differs and thinks that the talisman would score around 20 goals this season in the Premier League.
Ronaldo found his way back to the Old Trafford in the summer following a dramatic deadline day transfer after almost signing for arch rivals Manchester City. Since coming Ronaldo had found the net five times in six matches. Twice in Champions League and thrice in the league.
Talking about the Portuguese star’s season , Shearer said :
“When you look at his career, and particularly his career at Manchester United, he started there, started very raw but unbelievable talent and you could see that from the beginning. And where he’s got to… him and Messi have taken goal scoring to another level. It was ridiculous the number of goals these guys [have scored].”
“I think I’m right in saying the last time he failed to score 20 or more league goals in a season was the season he left Manchester United in 2009. You’re pretty much guaranteed I would say 20 league goals.”
However Linekar had a different opinion in mind, he thought 20 was less a number for a prolific goal scorer like Ronaldo.
“It depends how often [he plays], if he stays fit…25.” said Gary Lineker.
Even though Ronaldo has been on an amazing goal-scoring spree but Manchester United have been struggling registering three losses in the last six games of the season .
