Brazil make comeback against Venezuela; Argentina held to draw

Caracas :Brazil cameback from trailing by a goal and won the match against Venezuela 3-1 in the World Cup Qualifiers 2022. Brazil scored all the goals in the second half of the match. As for Argentina,they played out a goalless draw against Paraguay away from home.

Venezuela have never won a match against Brazil in World Cup Qualifiers in all their previous 17 attempts. However Eric Ramirez early goal gave them a hope of turning things around. Ramirez converted from Yeferson Soteldo’s cross on 11 minutes.

However Brazil turned things around in the second, taking complete control of the match. Marquinhos equalised through a header on 71 minutes, six minutes later on the clock Gabriel Barbosa doubled their lead from the spot. Anthony extended their lead 3-1 and sealed the game for the selecaos.

Paraguay held the reigning South American champions to a goalless draw, as Argentina failed to score for the first time since June of 2019. They are second in the group with 19 points, behind Brazil.

Lionel Scaloni’s men are now 23 games without a defeat. “I think we had some good moments,” said Argentine defender Nicolas Tagliafico. “We maybe struggled to control the game. There were times when Paraguay came at us and were dangerous. I think we made their goalkeeper one of the game’s best players.”
