Turin: Juventus suffered another blow in their Serie A campaign as Benevento snatched a stunning 1-0 win against them on Sunday. A sole strike Adolfo Gaich’s at the Allianz Stadium in Turin increased more frustration for Andrea Pirlo’s side as they now are 10 points behind league leaders Inter Milan at fourth.

The hosts had several chances but were unable to finish it off. Cristiano Ronaldo struck a low shot wide of the left post shortly after the kick-off while Alvaro Morata, ran through the centre before his low shot was blocked by Benevento goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo.

The hosts were awarded a penalty in the 35th minute when referee Rosario Abisso thought of defender Daam Foulon handholded Dejan Kulusevski’s cross, but the official changed his mind after reviewing on the pitchside monitor.

Despite a scratchy first half, the shock came from Benevento who went ahead. A howler across the penalty area from Arthur was pounced by Gaich who evaded Danilo’s challenge before slamming it home.

The hosts struggled but tried hard to get back into the game, but it was just not their day to be obvious. Ronaldo also had an off-day missing quite a few goalscoring opportunities as defending champions ended the game with utter disgust with their title hopes looking gloomy.
