AB de Villiers bids adieu to International cricket after 17 illustrious years

Johannesburg: South African legend AB de Villiers announced his retirement from all-forms of cricket on Friday. The Protea star posted a emotional post on his social media handle starting with ““It has been an incredible journey, but I have decided to retire from all cricket.”

 

 

 

 

The 37 year old from Pretoria is arguably one of the greatest batsman in the modern day game with prowess in all three formats of the game.

Since his debut back in 2004 against England, ABD has played 114 Tests, 228 ODI’s and 78 T20I’s while also leading the national side as well in a He was part of the famous squad that beat Australia at their backyard in Test series in the 2008-09 season. He is also the fastest man to reach 50,100 and 150 in ODI’s with the first two records coming in a game against West Indies where clobbered a 31 ball ton at Johannesburg six years.

Termed as Mr. 360 amongst the fraternity,there was a phase, when AB held the ICC no.1 rank for the batsman in both Tests and ODI’s for a multiple seasons.

In francise cricket too he was popular figure for especially for the Royal Challengers Bangalore side where showed his prowess consistently year after year. His last played for the “Rainbow Nation” in 2018 in a test match against Australia.
