EPL: Manchester United fumble against Southampton; Manchester City victorious

Manchester: Manchester United were held to a disappointing draw 1-1 against Southampton at Old Trafford in an English Premier League on Saturday while rivals Manchester City dominated to a 4-0 win against Norwich City, thanks to a Raheem Sterling hat-trick.

Manchester United started the match brightly, as Cristiano Ronaldo got a chance to put his team ahead but his shot was cleared by Romain Perraud. However, they finally took the lead through a Jadon Sancho’s tap in on 21 minutes.

However, Che Adams scored early into the second half, to equalise the scoreline much to the frustration of the players and coach of United. With this draw, United failed to move to top 4 spot and currently sitting at the fifth position.

“We are conceding fewer goals than before but it doesn’t help when you don’t score more than one,” Ralf Rangnick said after the match . “We should have been two or three goals up after 20 minutes again.

Elsewhere, Sterling produced a sensational hat-trick as City had it easy against Norwich at Carrow Road. Phil Foden scored the fourth to wrap up the match in favour of Pep Guardiola’s men. With this victory City extended their lead to the top of the Premier League to 12 points.
